Hooking

Hooking is a simple concept. Assume TRUMPET is on the board. An S can be placed at the head of the word to form STRUMPET. Another example would be taking the word KIT and adding an E to the tail of the word to form KITE. Hooking is just extending a word by one letter to enable to placement of another word on the board and learning all the hooks from 3 to 4 letters (front and back) is preferable to attempting to learn all the four letters words, many of which may have limited strategic potential.
