Parallel Plays
The parallel play, making
shorter words by placing the main word alongside an existing word is an excellent way to score points and do
what is known as ‘blocking the board’ i.e. making it harder
for your opponent to place words on the board. Of course, the other effect
is
that a more
difficult board also makes it hard for you to place words. This tactic
is most effective
against stronger players. If you are playing a weaker
player
keep the board open and use your superior word knowledge and strategic
prowess to crush them.
